A while back I saw there were some instagrams from local people advertising “One Happy Bowl” which is a ‘Healthy Food Cafe’ they make and sell home made pancakes, shakes, organic tea etc.. this lovely cafe sells Amada’s Kombucha owned by Thom and Amada Goushaw. They came up with this idea of wanting some of the things that they actually enjoyed back home in The States which was challenging to find here on the island so they started to make it themselves.
Kombucha is fermented tea, rich in probiotics made with organic ingredients.
It’s a health drink made by fermenting tea and sugar with Kombucha culture called SCOBY (Symbiotic Culture Of Bacteria and Yeast) containing bacteria and yeast that are responsible for initiating the fermentation process once combined with sugar.
After being bottled Kombucha becomes carbonated and contains Enzymes, B Vitamins, Probiotics and high concentration of healthy acids (acetic, gluconic and lactic).
